Preparation (January, 2014)

Hardware upgrades

Captain Phil had a long list of upgrades that included a new inner forestay for a new hank on storm staysail and running backstays.   New davits raised the height of the dinghy to ensure against it getting pooped by big following seas.  Click on the photo for more.

This is the view outside my front door on the morning departure from Harrisburg.  Arrrg!

The view just short of the runway into St. Thomas.  We weathered the weather in Baltimore - thank goodness!

This was taken from the Beachcomber Hotel where Tom and I stayed, waiting for Pintita's arrival.

The crew is all here!

Captain Phil at (near) the helm!

Broad reaching from East end of Puerto Rico to San Juan.   Mountain in a rare view of the mountain top of the island's rain forest.

Captain Phil and Tom Hosford just after posting the new chart.  Will start at daylight tomorrow (Saturday, 1/31).  Today it was touring old San Juan and clearing out of customs.

Welcome to Turks and Caicos.  After 4 days at sea, we were led through a narrow reef by a guide boat.  Cleared customs and immigration and are now enjoying a well deserved R&R.  Captain Phil promptly flew the T&C flag.

View out porthole on way from San Juan to Mayaguana
